Safety Tips for Changing a Flat Tyre

That’s like one of the worst things that can happen while driving…a flat tyre.

It’s far from a fun experience, now that’s where Pupkewitz Toyota will share some tips with you, so that you can prevent a flat tyre and to safely change a tyre.

Here are a few tips:

Before Your Next Flat

  • Keep your tyres inflated at the pressure instructed by the manufacturer. Too much tyre pressure can not only make your vehicle more difficult to handle, it can contribute to a uneasy ride. Too little pressure can make your tyres wear faster—and more unevenly.
  • Check your spare tyre occasionally to make sure it has the required air pressure and that it has no defects.
  • Check your tyres regularly to make sure they are in good condition and that they are wearing evenly. The tyre tread can become thin from accelerating to fast, hard stops and from city driving where you are required to make frequent stops and starts.
  • Check your brakes regularly. Brakes that are worn or that are not adjusted properly can create uneven wear on wheels.

After a Flat

  • Have your tyre repaired or replaced. Most spares are only meant for temporary use. Have all other tyres evaluated at the same time, including your spare.

In Namibia we experience vehicle accidents on a regular basis, so Pupkewitz Toyota would like to advise you to avoid flat tyres and preparing for the inevitable, you can help yourself to avoid some of the more serious dangers of driving an automobile. #PupkewitzToyotaCares
