That’s why we’re going to plant 60 Spekbooms for every Lexus Hybrid purchased to offset its carbon emissions for one year.

The quantity of Spekboom planted for every hybrid vehicle purchased is based on the following assumptions:

• 1 Lexus hybrid produces approximately 1 665 000g of CO₂ in a year (assuming 15 000km annual km at average 111g/CO₂
• If we sell 143 hybrid vehicles per annum the planted trees need to offset a total of 238 095 000g per year
  
• 1 Spekboom can offset 4000g of CO₂ over the period of a year
• If we sell 143 hybrid vehicles per annum and plant 60 trees per vehicle we will plant a total of 8500 trees
• With 8500 planted trees, a total number of 34 320 000g of CO₂ will be offset per year
• Therefore, after a period of 7 years, the total CO₂ offset will be 240 240 000g (which is in line with the amount produced)
  
• Therefore, the amount of CO₂ produced, and the amount of CO₂ being offset by the 8500 Spekboom would balance out
