Seamless gear shifting, better power delivery and improved fuel economy with the new Datsun GO and GO+ Automatic CVT versions

ROSSLYN, SOUTH AFRICA (20 November, 2019) The new Automatic CVT (continuous variable transmission) versions of the Datsun GO and GO+ have arrived, bringing with them better power delivery, improved fuel economy and - for the first time in the South African entry-level vehicle segment’s history - the advanced convenience of seamless gear shifting.

CVT technology provides better control than traditional automatic transmission technologies, by doing away with the lag during acceleration and the sports mode - yet another first for an automatic transmission in this segment – further enhances the overall driving experience.

Packed to the hilt with the latest in automotive technology and connectivity, the new Datsun GO and GO+ CVTs, fitted with seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with voice recognition and Android Auto/Apple Car Play.

Increased power

The new CVT version delivers 57kW of power at 6 000 rpm. That’s 7kW more than the manual transmission version. It is equipped with a 1 198cc three-cylinder engine and offers torque of 104 Nm at 4 400 rpm.

Making best-in-class technology accessible

Hide Kuwayama - the newly appointed head of Datsun South Africa – says the new Datsun GO and GO+ CVTs aim to make best-in-class technology accessible to progressive, self-driven young individuals everywhere.

“In keeping with our customer-centric approach, we want to ensure that our customers across the board have the opportunity to experience Datsun’s progressive mobility by bringing even more innovation to this segment,” Kuwayama says.

First launched in South Africa back in 2014, the Datsun GO and GO+ has over the last five years established itself as the vehicle of choice for those looking for a well-priced, reliable set of wheels.

And Datsun predicts the introduction of the Automatic CVT version will serve to build on this success for further growth.

Exciting features

VDC (vehicle dynamic control) safety technology monitors various parameters - like wheel speed, steering wheel position and lateral acceleration. The new Datsun GO and GO+ CVT also comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, reverse parking sensors and follow-me-home headlamps.

The new Datsun GO and GO+ CVT comes with front and rear power windows, battery saving features, remote key andpower steering. It boasts 14” machined Alloy wheels and a chrome front grille frame and black main grille.

It is available in a range of exciting colours including Red, Silver, Grey, White, Orange and the new colour Vivid Blue (additionally we have Sandstone Brown for GO+).
